Summary:  “Let me get this straight. You really want me to stand in for you while you help Jin Ling settle in at Koi Tower?”

“Who else do I have?” Jiang Cheng returns. “Father trained you to serve as my deputy, didn’t he? And don’t say you don’t remember, or I’ll break your legs.”

“Well, yes,” Wei Wuxian manages. “Uh. I’ll just let Lan Zhan know I’ll be at Lotus Pier until you’re back at home, then.”

Or, the one where Wei Wuxian spends the year before his wedding as Yunmeng Jiang’s acting sect leader, and the cultivation world’s greatest love story finds its happy ending with the help of three juniors, a teenage romance, and one very involved (and exasperated) younger brother.

My comments:  An epic fic covering the year that Wei Wuxian is resurrected (in his own body) but deviates from canon in that he’s immediately taken to Lotus Pier by Jiang Cheng and reconciliation happens, followed by WWX leading the Jiang Sect while JC stays in Lanling with Jin Ling to fend off power grabs and political intrigue. Author populated the story with a lot of OCs, who help and nurture WWX during this time as he struggles with PTSD and depression (because for him, he was only just killed, and the war was only a few years past. But he’s resilient, and his effervescence cannot always be suppressed. And he and LWJ exchange love letters (there are so many letters in this story) that are in-your-face love letters but WWX is oblivious out of self defense.

During the course of the year, there are social reforms, an accidental baby acquisition, a debilitating chronic illness, something dangerous in the swamps of Yunmeng, and a long, slow courtship.

post cql, POV multiple, adorable juniors, sect politics, brotherly feels, yunmeng brothers reconciliation, sect leader wei wuxian, wei wuxian at lotus pier, epistolary, love letters, feels, depressed wei wuxian, depression, sick wei wuxian, chronic illness, doting lan wangji, oblivious wei wuxian, thick as a brick wei wuxian, humor, adoption, accidental baby acquisition, near death experiences, qi deviation, core sickness, new cultivation methods, world building, social reform, tiger shapeshifter, OCs, fluff, soft, golden core transfer, loss of powers, betrothal, wedding, parent-child relationship, love confessions, feelings realization, domestic, caretaking, found family, pining, slow burn, resurrected in his original body, post canon fix it, happy ending, @stiltonbasket

*It has been pointed out that this story teeters in a crossover between G and T depending on how you react to the medical depiction of core surgery and bloody injuries depicted in Ch. 43.  The chapter has its own warnings, but in case you want to know before getting invested in the story, now is the time to check them out!
